Rob, what kind of fees did the elves, dwarves, and ogre(s) that guarded the entrances to the lower levels charge parties? Did they take a toll in advance, or just when the parties would leave?

"The Expedition to the Black Reservoir" has a note about some elves guarding the entrance to that level.

EGG told me. It was in the second version of the castle I think. He told me there were four entrances to the lower levels from the first. One was guarded by elves, one by dwarves, one by an ogre (that was eventually killed), and one entrance was a secret entrance. And as David mentioned, he describes Erac making a deal with the elves during a story set in the dungeons.
