Dark Druids, 2nd Edition is Available Now! |
Lead | |
|
Hey folks, for those veterans who complained about the d20-vesion not being understandable, well here is the 2nd Edition, with lots of _new_ material, and converted by David Smith to be compatible with the older editions of our favorite FRPG.

I'm hoping someone will take the trouble to review it. I'd do it myself, but as I was intimately involved in it, a review would probably not be proper.

Rob,
I've been carrying around the email notice about the DD 2nd Edition in my backpack for a month! Guess I've been a little busy lately. My order and check will be coming your way today. Just out of curiosity, can text be cut and pasted from the DD2 .pdf file into, say, Word? I like that feature in the later .pdf files I've gotten. I have the d20 versions of DD2 and GPM, and have been eyeing the CU version of GPM at Noble Knight. Prolly pick that one up just for grins. Side note: Now that Grodog is on the ground here in the Land of Oz, we've rolled out the welcome wagon for him. He came to a monthly open game night that our local gaming group has and fit right in with our AD&D group. We're trying to convince him to let us go exploring in his world (CG or Maure). His Taco'!
Yes, I talked with Gro last night and he mentioned you two meeting and playing. Cool deal! Let me know how the adventures go. All AD&D, as Gro points out, correct? Thanks for the support. If it is not possible to C&P from acrobat, I will send a raw text or word file so you can do so, just let me know when you receive it. Also, if your group plays a lot, please consider posting your accounts of play in the Round Table (unless in Greyhawk, then there is a separate forum for that here), as there is not enough logs of this type. I find them interesting and inspirational, in fact. BTW: You have been knighted! RJK |

There is a way to copy from a pdf, but it's not a normal cut and paste, the 'cut' copies the text as an image file and then does its best to figure out what the letters are and tries to paste them. It works best with a traditional font on a plain white background. I'm at work now, so I can't do it to detail the exact process.

Rob - thanks for the info, and the beknighting!
My use of the actual text varies from adventure to adventure, but often times I'll shoot little snipits of text to the party before starting something new, and in between sessions, via email. This practice kind of emulates the gathering of rumors and legends that might preceed the start of an expedition. If I can C&P it, that's often faster than if I try to to type it myself. And yeah, our group is "still" playing AD&D. Some of the guys have given 3.x a test drive, with their teenage kids, only to find it not to their liking. Their return to AD&D was like coming home, in a way. I myself never left "home" (have always used AD&D rules). But, I did throw massive amounts of money at 2nd Edition material, only to have the material sit unused in my closet while I continued to use the earlier version. By 3.x, I had wisened up a bit. I've only bought the core books (for reference purposes) and adventures that will be converted back to AD&D. I've also been picking up *&* modules from the Ogre Lords because its close enough to AD&D for me, particularly CZ 1 and DC. Keep up the good work, tj out |

The C&C name and the Trolls are discussed here without need to abbreviate that, btw, though I get (as they say in Ghana: "Do you get me?") what you're doing I did that at K&K when folks thought I was talking of C&C too much. But that soon calmed and an understanding grew and now we all like one another.
Welcome back to the board and happy posting. If you DM Grodog again give his PC some extra damage from me! RJK |

FWIW, the full version of Acrobat supports standard cut/paste of text.
