Tomb of Horrors

So . . . I've been running my daughters through the Tomb of Horrors (does that qualify as child abuse?) and, while they were generally doing very well, they ran into some trouble in the trembling room. Unlike any other group I'd run through there before, they actually grabbed on to the curtains to steady themselves when the floor started to shake -- not a TPK, but close. My elder daughter knows a bit about you and Robilar's past and was wondering if you recalled how Robilar did...

Egyptian-style adventuring

Rob, if you have the time, just a quick question that occurred to me while I was reading:

Given that EGG wrote several novels and other products regarding Egypt and Egyptian-style adventuring, it seems fair to think he had something of an interest in that setting. Did Robilar or anyone else that you know of ever journey to Egypt? If so, what happened there?

Just curious.

origin of one-way doors?

Hi Rob---

Ethan and I were talking about one-way doors this morning, and his questions got me thinking about
them, and how little we really know about one-way doors/secret doors. Are there any good stories
about the first time they were encountered by the LG crew? How common were there in the Castles,
and what did players do to try to avoid falling victim to them?

We obviously found one in ERK at North TX RPG Con (and managed to escape it!), and Bottle...

Teleport Free Zone? (CZ Spoiler Included)

Rob (or anybody else who was there), a few facts came together recently. Was teleport blocked in the Greyhawk Dungeons? Certain areas?
Erac, who I think was a spell caster high enough level to teleport out when he got trapped didn't, and died.
Players have mentioned that they saved their wishes to use when they were trapped/lost in the dungeons.
Teleport and dimension door do not work in the CZ dungeons.

Hi Rob,

A long while ago, you mentioned that Robilar once adventured in Odd Alley and Weird Way in the city of Greyhawk.

Could you elaborate on those adventures at all? Were they anything akin to what EGG wrote in his Gord short story?

I am grateful for any nuggets of original original LG Campaign lore I can get.

Elves, Dwarves, and Ogres

Rob, what kind of fees did the elves, dwarves, and ogre(s) that guarded the entrances to the lower levels charge parties? Did they take a toll in advance, or just when the parties would leave?

I know the first of appearance of "this or that" was touched on in other threads but I wanted reiterate it so I could discuss the first usage of giants and dragons in CHAINMAIL which doesn't seem to have come up. The first version in the game of dragons and giants seemed to be red dragons and cloud giants in that order just genericized into "dragon" and "giant".

Rob, can you recall when these later variants appeared? Was it during CHAINMAIL or was it...

Robilar ever get his backside handed to him? I mean knocked out, dragged thru the mud and made to wear a dress type of defeat! Beaten and abused by kobolds as a youngster? Or was he one of those lucky types who managed to aviod this kind of thing?
