On the Relationship between D3 and Q1

I, like many others, have found the relationship between D3 and Q1 problematic. If the Eilservs are behind the giant uprising and they are also worshippers of the Elemental God, why is it that Q1 is a fight against Lolth and not (e.g.) The Elemental God? What's the beef the adventurers are supposed to have with the Demon Queen of Spiders?

There are several possible solutions to this conundrum, the main one (the one I always used as a young DM) being: "Who cares?...

power of charms: AD&D vs. OD&D?

How did you handle charms in El Raja Key and Castle Greyhawk? The DMG speaks to monster charms (harpy, vampire, etc.) being much more powerful than charms from PC casters, but Gary was able to charm Bigby into being his permanent henchmen, and eventually used him as a PC. It sounds like charm person was pretty powerful too, so I'm curious to hear your thoughts, when you're able

So, how did the PPP contingent fare at Texas Con? Did Grodog obtain a TPK in Castle Greyhawk? I think he had a cautious bunch. Did Rob . . . I can't remember what he was running, but I'm pretty sure it was hard core (hopefully he didn't spring Bottle City on some second level newbies, though . . .).

I actually peered through the Acaeum Cam a few times, but since I really can't identify anyone by sight, it did me little good.

By the by, does anyone happen to have in .pdf or .jpeg form the original map of The Great Kingdom from The Domesday Book that was the basis for the Blackmoor & Greyhawk games? Is it considered copyrighted material that can't be released? Is it available on the net somewhere that I havent located?

I ask because, me being me, want to have a solid idea of the original layout Dave Arneson had for his campaign since Im running a (apocryphal and non-canon)...

In regards to the early LGC&C/Castle Greyhawk era:
Does anyone recall any colours/styles described in play of the military forces represented?

I've got to say I am getting really jazzed by the renewed sense of energy I'm feeling around here in the last couple of days.
